Luxury Home Dining Experience

As lockdown starts to lift, pub gardens open, my thoughts this week are thinking of happy times ahead with friends and family. However, due to the inclement British weather, many dining venues are not opening until they can host guests indoors. I saw a relative’s Facebook post about a luxury home dining experience and wanted to find out more. They used Home by Nico. Read on to find out more.

What is on Offer?

Home by Nico promises a luxury home dining experience with minimal cooking skills needed. Created by the team from Six by Nico who offers 6-course tasting menus that change every 6 weeks at their 6 UK-based locations. Each month an exciting new menu launches and each one offers a vegetarian choice. Consequently, you travel the world in 12 months albeit in culinary terms. Each month choose the number of boxes you need (each box contains enough for 2 people) and have it delivered 24 hours before you plan to dine. The boxes must be delivered on either a Thursday or a Friday which is a little limiting. Delivery is via DPD so you can track your package and leave instructions about delivery.

Oh, the joy of the arrival! The packaging is superb and the reheating instructions are simple and easy to follow. Each package contains everything you need. All perfectly chopped and portioned. After all, a luxury experience shouldn’t include spending half the evening weighing, chopping, and processing the food. Even better, it also includes a bottle of wine so no last-minute dash to the supermarket or personal wine cellar.

My relative described the food as amazing and his pictures showed ample food for 2. Admittedly the price tag may seem steep to some at £60 for this month’s Vietnamese-inspired cuisine but you could easily spend this and more when dining out. For this, you get a starter, 2nd starter, main with two side dishes, dessert, and a bottle of wine. You can even watch a video to find out how to plate your delights like a pro. When you are done, all the packaging apart from the plastic film is recyclable.

A vegan option is provided by Green Haus and this looks equally yummy, similar price but a different menu from the Home by Nico offering.

Nana Knows Verdict

This is pricier than your standard supermarket dine-in experience but you are getting something special. From the packaging, the food, and wine choice, this is not run-of-the-mill fare. Home by Nico is selling an experience! The only hard decision is who to invite to share it. It is also a wonderful gift idea for your friends and family who are hard to buy for. If you like the idea of a luxury home dining experience, with exciting flavors, then Nana says to get the table cloth and napkins out and give it a try.
